Pak must mount pressure for Aafia release: Tina |
| |
22/12/10 LAHORE: The lawyer of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in US, Tina Foster, Tuesday feared that after the award of sentence to Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in US, no Pakistani is now safe across the globe, adding that US’s court ruling against her will now make handing over of any Pakistani much easier to US from anywhere in the world.
However, she was hopeful of her early release in case of mounting pressure on US government from Pakistan. “Her release could be made easier and possible if Pakistani government pressurize US,” she argued.
She was talking to newsmen here at Lahore Press Club (LPC). Tina Foster said after Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was sentenced to imprisonment in US, now any Pakistani anywhere in the world could be extradited to US in future. “No Pakistani is safe now,” she feared.
She termed her meetings with Pakistani officials ‘conducive’ and ‘productive’, hoping that rising pressure from Pakistan government may lead to early release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui from US captivity.
Fauzia Siddiqui was also present on the occasion.
