  5.2 earthquake hits northern areas

18/04/12  According to Pakistan Metrological Department, an earthquake of moderate intensity measuring 5.2 on the richter scale was felt in Peshawar and surrounding areas on Tuesday.

The epicenter of the quake was some 250 kilometres north-west of Peshawar near the Hindu Kush mountain range with focal depth of 201 km.

Tremors were felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. However, no loss of life and property was reported.
