28/02/11  Hundreds of people staged protest against the closure of petrol pumps in different areas of Karachi on Monday.

Several petrol pumps were closed on the call of Petroleum Dealers Association in the commercial hub.

People protested against the unavailability of petrol and blocked roads in various areas including Gulistan-Jauhar and Liaquatabad.

Hundreds of motorcyclists on main arteries of Karachi, including M A Jinnah Road and Sharahe-Faisal, faced a nightmarish situation, when their bikes ran out of petrol due to crawling for hours in one of the worst traffic jams of the history of Karachi.

Traffic was suspended in many areas. Petroleum Dealers warned that the strike may soon spill over into other parts of the country if its demands are not met.
