10 dead, 100 injured in Peshawar suicide attack

13/11/09  PESHAWAR : Suicide car bombs tore through Intelligence office building in Khyber Road in Peshawar on Friday, killing at least 10 people and more than 100 injured. The three-storey building was heavily damaged, with huge clouds of smoke spewing into the sky and debris littering the ground, witnesses said. DG ISPR Major General Athar Abbas said it was a suicide car bombing outside the intelligence office. "Five official personnel have been martyred," Abbas told media. Security officials put the overall death toll to 10 with more than 100 wounded. "Ten people are dead... Up to 300 kilograms (661 pounds) of high explosives and mortars were packed into the car bomb," Provincial police chief Malik Naveed told. The injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital and Combined Military Hospital as emergency has been imposed in local hospitals. The Khyber Road has been closed for traffic and area has been sealed.
