09/04/13  LAHORE: Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi has said that a comprehensive awareness campaign should be launched for administering anti-polio drops and special attention be paid to backward areas. He was presiding over a meeting held here on Monday to review the anti-polio campaign in the province. He said that polio was a dangerous disease and might result in permanent disability, therefore the Punjab government was vigorously pursuing anti-polio campaign throughout the province.

However, he added, there was a need to create awareness among the people regarding the anti-polio campaign.

The chief minister said that the anti-polio campaign should continue effectively and the parents should also cooperate in order to protect the future of their children. Provincial Minister for Health Salima Hashmi, Secretary Health, IG Police Punjab, representatives of World Health Organization and UNICEF as well as authorities concerned attended the meeting.
