30/03/13  Contrary to mixed reviews, the Ajay Devgn starrer is still minting good money at the ticket counters and is considered the actor’s highest solo opener

The Ajay Devgn-Tamannaah starrer Himmatwala has managed to get a bumper opening at major metropolitan cities, which has helped the film garner Rs 12 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office. If trade analysts are to be believed, the single screens opened to packed houses for the morning shows in Mumbai, Punjab and Rajasthan, while multiplexes in cities are expected to witness a big jump in the shows and over the weekend.

With Himmatwala, Ajay Devgn beats his own record what with the film becoming his highest opener, last being Bol Bachchan with Rs 11.25 crores! On the second day, Himmatwala shows are running to packed theatres.

It hopes to earn more on the weekend with the help of word of mouth publicity that will help in having more footfalls in theatres.
